FAQ

Do players need a mod?

No. They need CraftEngine's resource pack, which the server sends.

Does MachineEngine add machines by itself?

Only the shared energy and fluids. Machines come from addons such as Mekanized, or from your own YAML definitions.

Can I make my own machines without Java?

Yes: resources, recipes, machines (processing or storage) and multiblocks can be defined in plugins/MachineEngine/definitions/*.yml, with a CraftEngine block for each. See Building with it.

Do machines keep working in unloaded chunks?

No. A machine in an unloaded chunk is frozen in time, and MachineEngine never loads chunks to run machines or move resources. Some machine types may catch up a bounded amount of time when their chunk loads again (catch-up in a definition).

What happens if I remove an addon?

Its machines become placeholders: they keep their data and come back when the addon is reinstalled. See Updating.

Do idle machines cost performance?

Very little: a machine with nothing to do sleeps, and only wakes up when something changes (an item arrives, an output frees up, a neighbor changes).

Does it work with Folia?

Yes, tested on Folia 1.20.6 and 26.2.

Can I change energy or fluid units?

Yes, under resources: in config.yml (unit, decimal digits, bucket size). They need a restart.
